Boot Camps

RTC Boot Camp
We know how difficult it can be for an ISV to find time to learn the new RoleTailored Client (RTC) and the changes to the development environment in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009. That’s why Mergetool.com developed the RTC Boot Camp.

In the RTC Boot Camp, we will help you move one of your ISV products from the Classic Client to the RoleTailored Client in just a few days. The boot camp is all hands-on and you will get a lot of technical information about the new 3-tiered environment. The result may not be a fully functional RTC version of the ISV application, but the RTC Bootcamp will give you a working application that will illustrate the concept of the RTC application. Experience with the Mergetool is not required. However, experience with the tool can shorten the bootcamp by one day.

Duration: On-site 3-4 days

Upgrade Boot Camp
The Upgrade Boot Camp focuses on merging code and upgrading data to the latest versions on Dynamics NAV. Depending how long time since the application was upgrade and the level of customizations can the expected result vary. At the end of the Boot Camp is it possible to estimate the remaining tasks and determine what to do with ISV products.

Duration: On-site 3-4 days
Audience: 2-3 experienced developers/designers with deep knowledge of the application or ISV product selected for the boot camp.

Development Standards Boot Camp
Helping our customers create a successful ISV product requires much more than just adding a version list and exporting a fob-file. By using the Mergetool and all the tools integrated within, this course helps you solve problems like Unnecessary Changes, Unused Variables, Captions, Text Constants, Online Help, Translation, Code Clean-up, Fixed ID, Promoted Actions, Essential Fields and many more.

Duration: On-site 2-3 days
Audience: 2-3 experienced developers/designers with deep knowledge of the ISV product selected for the boot camp.

Classes

Development Standards and Mergetool Class
This class is intended to teach the basic skill of “Compare and Merge” using the Mergetool. During the class, we will use hands-on exercises to simulate a development process for a customization and ISV product. The standards used during this development will also be explained and we will demonstrate how doing changes the right way ensures easier merges.

The general process of Compare and Merge will also be used many times during the class, ending with an actual upgrade of a customer solution, either as an upgrade between Microsoft Dynamics NAV or ISV versions or adding a new product to an already customized database.

Duration: Class 2 days, Possible follow-up 2x2 hour Q&A conference call
Audience: 4-8 people, Microsoft Dynamics NAV Developers with some experience.

RTC Transformation Class
The transfomation to RoleTailored Client require a lot of new skills. This class will teach the different steps of the process and how to design the unique features like RoleCenters and FactBoxes.

The Mergetool will be used during the class, but only for basic features to compare and clean up the application before transformation. The hands-on training will use both real applications but also a small application designed to teach the transformation efficiently.

Duration: Class 3 days, Possible follow-up 2x2 hour Q&A conference call
Audience: 4-8 people, Microsoft Dynamics NAV Developers with some experience.
